Remember the absolutely critical Omnibus spending bill Congress muscled through at the end of last year? It was 4,000 pages that no one read and cost taxpayers $1.7 trillion.

As Congress debates another continuing resolution on spending to avoid a government shutdown - that will surely be chocked full of waste and abuse - let's look at just how many of our tax dollars are doled out that clearly shouldn't be.

Today’s offering: $247 billion a year in 'improper payments!'

The U.S. government wastes billions of taxpayer dollars every year.

Improper payments, which refer to payments that are made incorrectly by the government, cost the U.S. $247 billion in 2022, according to the Government Accountability Office.

The U.S. government has lost almost $2.4 trillion in simple payment errors over the last two decades, by GAO estimates.

That's right. $247 BILLION paid "incorrectly" last year.

That's a pretty big mistake to make. How, even?

Think about that come April 15th.
