Late Thursday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that only 294 USAIDÂ staffers were to remain with the agency.
That's it.
That means barely 300 people were deemed necessary out of the agencies old staff of 14,000.
Talk about downsizing.
From The Hill Thursday, "The government’s foremost foreign aid agency is being gutted."
"Essential personnel was to be notified by 3 p.m. EST Thursday, per a message posted on the USAID website, which has been otherwise dark since last weekend when Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) started shutting thousands of employees out of internal systems, causing chaos and concern about the future of the more than 60-year-old agency," The Hill noted.
The report added, "Democratic members of Congress have called the takeover illegal, unconstitutional, and a coup and vowed to hold up President Trump’s State Department picks until the president backs off his threats to restructure the independent agency."
Poor babies!
Conservatives were thrilled.
A good start!
Now that's what you call a CUT.
The Left is saying people are going to die.
Conservative Canadians are jealous.
CNN's Anderson Cooped wondered if these cuts were a "victory for dictators."
Just like THAT!
There are so many positive things coming out of this still very new Trump administration that it's hard to keep up.
These massive cuts are exactly the kind of big spending reductions that Trump was elected to get done.
Boy, is he.
The Department of Governmental Efficiency might turn out to be one of the most important parts of President's Trump second term.
Elon Musk and company deserve credit for going after USAID so quickly and harshly.
One thing is for sure: Team Trump isn't playing around.
