When he campaigned for president, Donald Trump vowed to shutdown the Department of Education.
Well, now that he's president, he is doing just that.
Promises made, promises kept.
From Reuters Monday, "U.S. President Donald Trump's administration will take steps to defund the federal Education Department, a White House official said on Monday, adding an announcement on the planned actions may come later in February."
"The Wall Street Journal reported earlier that Trump advisers were considering executive actions to dismantle the Education Department as part of a campaign by billionaire Elon Musk and his allies to reduce the size of the government's workforce," the report noted.
On Tuesday, the president humorously said that he wanted to make sure his pick to head department, Linda McMahon, wouldn't have a job.
Since Jimmy Carter established the Department of Education, conservatives have promised to abolish it going all the way back to President Ronald Reagan in 1980.
Now it looks like Trump will be the president to actually do it.
And conservatives couldn't be more excited.
Congressman Tim Burchett is down.
Teachers Union head Randi Weingarten's head is going to explode.
That didn't take long.
LOL
How you definitely know shutting it down is a good thing.
Sen. John Kennedy told Democrats to get used to this.
Rep. Thomas Massie being pro-active, as usual.
Here's a plan!
A history lesson from Elon.
YES!
It's WAY past time for this to happen. It will greatly improve education with the money going back to the states.
Again, this has been a long-term goal for conservatives and God bless Donald Trump for being the president to finally do it.
There should be no more debate.
SHUT. IT. DOWN!
