Tim Walz Signed an 'Ethnic Studies' Requirement for Elementary School Students

Office of Governor Tim Walz/Public Domain

What parent doesn't want their elementary school student to learn the basics?

Reading, writing, arithmetic, history, English, geography, and...

"ethnic studies?"

In May 2023, Minnesota's governor and current Democratic vice presidential nominee, Tim Walz, signed a law that will require schools to offer “ethnic studies."

"Ethnic studies" would be required in Minnesota's elementary and middle schools by 2027, and high schools would have the same requirement beginning in the 2006 school year.

What is "ethnic studies?'

It's described as an “interdisciplinary study of race, ethnicity, and indigeneity” that emphasizes “perspectives of people of color” and details “the ways in which race and racism have been and continue to be social, cultural, and political forces.”

There's more.

The Daily Caller reports, "Some intended learning outcomes of ethnic studies that were set out before the legislation was signed include identifying 'the ways power and language construct the social identities of race, religion, geography, ethnicity, and gender' and understanding 'the roots of contemporary systems of oppression,' according to a 2021 academic standard document released by the Minnesota Department of Education. The standards outline learning requirements for ethnic studies for every year from kindergarten through ninth grade."

To reiterate, they want this taught to the youngest of students.

Also from the Caller (emphasis added), "The standards also call for Minnesota children to be introduced to racial topics starting in kindergarten, such as forms of resistance against systemic power and how they can fight against injustices. The benchmarks for high school students include 'racial capitalism' and 'anti-Blackness' and mention 'contemporary systems of oppression' such as 'how criminality is constructed and how social, political and legal systems define a person as a criminal.'”

Is this what you want your kindergarten-aged child - or any aged-child - to be learning at school?

Because the man who wants to be our next vice president apparently does.

Some Minnesota schools have already adopted this.

The second-largest school district in the state, St. Paul Public Schools, adopted a high school program in 2021 it describes as a “critical and interdisciplinary study of race, ethnicity, and indigeneity with a focus on the experiences and perspectives of people of color” that uses “equity, anti-racism, and social justice."

Huh?

The program asks students to be “aware of your own bias, power, and privilege” and “resist all systems of oppressive power rooted in racism through collective action and change.”

Again, is this what you want your child being fed at school?

This election is a referendum on many things - the economy, the border, the right to life, endless wars, the national debt, and so on.

It is also about killing off 'woke' for good.

Tim Walz is about as woke as it gets. This man should not be anywhere near the White House.

Or our kids, apparently.
