Stocks Up, Stocks Down — The Art of the Deal

Wall Street doesn’t know what to make of Donald Trump — which is exactly how he likes it.

This week, the markets were rattled by reports of on-again, off-again tariffs. Investors panicked, analysts ran wild with speculation, and the usual doom-and-gloom forecasts made the rounds. Stocks dipped. Headlines screamed. The Left declared economic collapse was imminent.

And then? The market snapped back. Just like that.

It’s a pattern we’ve seen before. Trump makes a bold move, the establishment gasps, the media melts down — and the numbers recover. Why? Because Trump isn’t just playing the market. He’s negotiating. He’s applying pressure, testing leverage, and reminding the world that America will no longer be played for a fool.

Tariff Tantrums and Democrat Double-Talk

While Trump holds firm, Democrats are spinning. Tariffs — once a staple of their own platform — are suddenly public enemy number one.

For years, Democrats supported tariffs as a tool to protect American labor.

Now, they oppose them… because Trump supports them. It’s not about policy anymore — it’s about Trump. If he’s for it, they’re against it, no matter how many union jobs it saves.

The hypocrisy would be laughable if it weren’t so dangerous. Their hatred for Trump has them rooting for China, defending foreign interests, and forgetting their own record. At this rate, we’re just days away from Chinese flags showing up in liberal Twitter bios.

Trump’s playing the long game. The Left is just playing themselves.

Taking Care of Business on the Hill

Over in Congress, Republicans showed signs of life.

The House passed the SAVE Act, approved a budget framework, and moved forward a bill to rein in rogue activist judges. That’s three major wins — a rare display of productivity, especially in an election year.

The SAVE Act ensures that only Americans can vote in federal elections by requiring strict voter ID laws, so of course, the Left is fighting it tooth and nail, narrowly passing the House with only four Democrats joining the cause bringing a 220-208 vote tally.

But as always, the Senate looms. Of the three measures, only the budget has a real shot of breaking through the filibuster firewall. Still, progress is progress.

Perhaps most notably, the budget earned support from some of its fiercest critics. The House Freedom Caucus — including Rep. Chip Roy — begrudgingly signed on after receiving firm assurances from Speaker Mike Johnson, Senator John Thune, and President Trump himself.

It’s not full unity, but it’s movement in the right direction. Republicans might finally be getting their act together — and not a moment too soon.

And for fun before we go, a little reminder...

Thanks for reading this week’s Cannon. The fight for America’s future continues — online, in Congress, and in culture.
