Liberation Day: Tariffs Strike Back

Tuesday marked Liberation Day in America as President Trump unveiled a sweeping tariff plan aimed at crushing the trade deficit and restoring fairness to global commerce.

Markets dipped. Foreign investment soared. Countries are already lining up to negotiate.

The plan hits foreign imports with roughly half the tariff rates they impose on U.S. goods—putting the pressure on the global elite to deal with Trump or lose access to the world’s largest consumer economy.
