Go Woke, Go Broke:
Disney has done something groundbreaking, innovative, and new! Just kidding, it's another woke-washed remake of a classic. The live-action Snow White film hit theaters last Friday and it's crashing and burning - $43 million opening weekend numbers on a budget 140x what it took to make the original.
Audiences have largely disliked the movie, a 2-star (out of 10) film that underwent woke revision after woke revision. They started by replacing Snow White, the princess that is supposed to be as white as snow like in the 1800's German fairy tale, with a Hispanic actress. After criticism from famous dwarf actor Peter Dinklage in 2022, the film replaced the motley crew of multi-racial, dwarf, and non-dwarf actors with computer-generated creatures that resemble something between the Keebler elf and the tchotchkes on your grandmother's mantel. To top things off, Rachel Zegler who plays Snow White let viewers know that "it's no longer 1937, she's not going to be saved by the prince," in the same breath she called Prince Charming a "stalker."
We Are Winning the Culture Wars:
Netflix has taken a heap of the criticism with their blackwashing of historical characters. From black Viking warriors to a black Queen Charlotte, the streaming company has taken every opportunity to cast non-white actors in roles. It isn't about race, but it seems to only go one way - woke. Filmmakers are also fluent in replacing male characters with women, like the rumors of a female James Bond.
The cycle isn't new, film companies continue to take classics, make them woke, and then complain that people that don't watch their botched rendition are some sort of bigots. And on the flip side, Hollywood's portrayal of conservatives, Christians, and anyone else they hate are caricatures used to mock the Right. People are done with it. People have stopped showing up to the latest releases of woke propaganda. It's a matter of time, if we continue to fight back, before they can't afford more woke nonsense.
Where will the woke nonsense end?
