The Left has run out of attack lines for Trump. They resort to calling him a convicted felon more times than not. And the reason they're so upset is almost as funny as it is ridiculous. The Trump administration, largely through DOGE, is cutting waste, fraud, and abuse at a rapid rate. It's a true wonder why anyone would advocate for more waste, but that's the Democrat party for you. Overall, a big week for the Republicans as they passed the Continuing Resolution to fund the government through October - giving them enough time to get a package together to codify Trump's achievements, extend the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and finalize the cuts we've seen over the past two months.

Speaking of cutting, the Department of Education (DOE) is half the size is was when the week began. DOE will only be maintaining statutorily required functions like grants and student loans, as a first step in President Trump's promise to abolish the agency and return education control to the states. The department consumes over $250 billion (4% of the budget), but has overseen a decline in education standards with over 25% of 12th graders effectively illiterate. It's only the start of the hatchet Republicans are taking to bloated government. As for the areas that aren't being cut, they've gotten an overhaul to start working once again, like the border which has the lowest illegal immigration numbers to date.

Those record low border numbers are only one part of the story. The deportation efforts, led by DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, has rebranded the CBP One app into CBP Home, encouraging illegal immigrants to self-deport with a promise of potential legal return, while warning of permanent bans for those who wait to be forcibly removed. However, ICE faces significant challenges, including full detention facilities and a $230 billion budget shortfall, hampering swift deportations despite assistance from some governors like Virginia’s Glenn Youngkin, who has increased state cooperation with federal immigration efforts. Trump's approval ratings are strong, but he needs to follow through on what was his top-line campaign promise before his supporters' patience runs out.

Despite a shaky stock market with the DOW Jones dropping over 8% in the past month, the U.S. economy under Trump is showing surprising resilience, potentially strong enough to eliminate federal income tax for those earning under $150,000, as teased by Treasury Secretary Howard Lutnick. Trump’s policies, like axing taxes on tips and overtime, firing 6,000 IRS employees, and leveraging reciprocal tariffs in trade wars with Canada, Mexico, and others, are driving this shift - balancing the trade deficit, curbing illegal immigration, and boosting U.S. revenue. Foreign investment is pouring in - $100 billion from Taiwan, $1 trillion from Japan’s Nippon Steel, $600 billion from Saudi Arabia—while egg prices drop 21%, gas dips $0.15, and inflation cools, offering real relief to consumers despite the Left’s predictable blame game. Meanwhile, the U.S. is saving billions as aid to Ukraine was paused, and now seems like the U.S. could receive dividends from a looming peace deal.

Peace in the Russia-Ukraine conflict took a major step forward this week as Russia signed a ceasefire on Thursday, though, the full peace agreement’s details are still being ironed out, following a rollercoaster of events sparked by Ukrainian President Zelensky’s Oval Office showdown with President Trump and Vice President Vance. Zelensky’s initial aggression - dismissing America’s crucial support - sabotaged early talks of a mineral deal and peace process, leading Trump to boot him out with a curt “come back when you’re ready for peace.” After striking out on a European fundraising blitz and facing Trump’s halt on U.S. military aid, Zelensky folded, agreeing to trade Ukraine’s rare earth minerals (essential for AI, microchips, and military tech) for economic gains and a ceasefire with Russia. This plays into Trump’s America-first vision - curtailing Russia and China, cutting war spending, and recouping aid costs through Ukraine’s resources. Despite some back and forth, the ceasefire got locked in, as the details of a lasting peace are knocked out, creating a real possibility that the art of the deal has worked again.
