Activist Judge Blocks Deportation Efforts:
President Trump has announced and utilized the Alien Enemies Act (1798) to deport swaths of illegal immigrants. The law, which has been used during the War of 1812, World War I, and World War II, grants sweeping powers to the President to enact deportations, but is generally only used during a time of war or when an “invasion or predatory incursion” is “perpetuated, attempted, or threatened” against U.S. territory by a foreign entity.
Things were going well for the President until activist DC District Judge James Boasberg ordered a halt on deportation flights of Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang members being removed. The judge argues that the U.S. needs to be in a war to use the John-Adams-era law, using his powers to disrupt the immigration policy of the country that is facing the aftermath of Biden's invasion. Border Czar Tom Homan was asked about using the 200-year-old law, which he pointed out is not as old as the Constitution, which we still follow.
Trump Administration Signals Defying the Ruling, Like Biden Did:
The Trump administration believes that we are in a time of war, Trump said as much to reporters, arguing that the Biden's invasion is plenty of grounds to deport the millions of criminal migrants in the U.S.
The activist judge's ruling ordered the White House to stop the deportation of noncitizens under Trump’s executive order for at least 14 days, including requiring midair deportation flights to return to the U.S. But even after the judge's ruling, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on X that the U.S. had sent Tren de Aragua gang members on deportation flights to prisons in El Salvador.
The U.S. is facing down a crisis with well over 20 million illegal immigrants living in the U.S., with hundreds of thousands of missing children, and enough fentanyl to kill the entire population of the country. The crisis is clearly enough to warrant the Alien Enemies Act, but one judge supposedly knows better than the overwhelming majority of Americans that elected Trump to do exactly this? Think again. It appears the Trump administration is planning to fight the ruling, with the Left accusing them of ignoring the order by continuing to send criminals home. I'm old enough to remember last year when Leftist cheered the Biden administration for ignoring the Supreme Court's ruling on student loan forgiveness, and this situation is much more dire.
