Trump Officials Tease Massive Tax Cuts for the Middle Class:

Treasury Secretary Howard Lutnick announced Trump's goal to remove the federal income tax for individuals earning less than $150,000 a year during an interview with CBS. While there has been no discussion of a timeline when this will be implemented, the firing of about 6,000 IRS employees is a good sign that the administration is serious about this shift.

Lutnick also reiterated Trump's pledges for no taxes on tips and overtime, which were key promises Trump made on the campaign trail. Both policy changes run in the same vein - reducing the burden that the federal government puts on everyday Americans that are just trying to make ends meet. Workers earning overtime and tip pay, for the most part, aren't doing so because they love waiting tables or grinding 80 hours a week, they're doing it to feed their families and the least the government can do is get out of their way.

Tariffs, Trade Wars, and Foreign Investment Run the Headlines:

If you've turned on the TV or opened social media, you're probably aware that the U.S. is in a number of trade wars after Trump's reciprocal and punitive tariffs shocked the world. With neighbors like Canada and Mexico, on top of the matching tariffs - when Canada sets a 270% tariff on U.S. dairy, the U.S. puts a 270% tariff on Canadian diary - Trump has also leveled additional tariffs to cudgel our neighbors to halt the flow of illegal immigrants and illicit drugs from coming over our border.

Like clockwork, foreign countries and American liberals warn that the administration doesn't know what it's doing and it will end poorly for the U.S. After that, the foreign country caves and our initial demands are met. One after the next. From forcing Colombia to take deportees to getting Mexico to station troops on their northern border, the cycle continues to repeat itself and the Left won't learn their lesson.

The reciprocal tariffs are on their way to balance the U.S. trade deficit and accomplish a litany of additional foreign policy objectives while increasing the U.S.' revenue to the point that the treasury is discussing eliminating taxes for the bulk of Americans. The threat of tariffs has also been enough for American companies to commit to investing at home, and to coerce foreign companies to invest in the U.S. Just a few examples, Taiwan plans to invest $100 billion, Japan's Nippon Steel another $1 trillion, Saudi Arabia for another $600 billion, and the list goes on. If that's not winning, I don't know what is.

Major Economic Shakeups Are Looming:

The market hates uncertainty, it's a cliché that unfortunately continues to be true. Despite the success on the trade front that Trump has accomplished in his first 2 months, the stock market has taken a bit of a plunge with the DOW Jones down over 8% in the past month. While the stock market is going to take time to correct itself, consumers are beginning to feel relief, so long as they don't look at their 401K.

When Trump took office, the Left swapped out their offensive playbook of pretending inflation didn't exist and prices weren't astronomical. Now, their defensive playbook is, you guessed it, blame Trump for the high prices. Or at least it was until the scorecard came back: in the two months since inauguration, egg prices are down 21%, inflation is dropping, and gas prices are down about $0.15 since taking office.

Don't get me wrong, the stock market numbers are concerning, but the overall economic picture is looking bright. Everyday Americans are starting to feel prices fall and life is becoming affordable. Tax cuts are looming and government is on its way to shrinking. Tariffs, gold cards, and foreign investment are bolstering the American economy. And for the first time in a long time, America is on an upward trajectory.

Together, we're fighting for a smaller, more sensible government. Thank you for reading today's Cannon, we hope you'll join us in the fight - one post and share at a time!
