Before the spending bill passed in the Senate last week, Democrats threatened to use the filibuster to block it.
What hypocrites! You can't make this up - if you remember, these same Democrats in the past have wanted to abolish the filibuster, calling it an outdated tool of the Jim Crow era.
This is something Dems magically seemed to forget when threatening to use it to stop the GOP spending bill.
CNN's Scott Jennings couldn't help himself in praising - extremely sarcastically - Schumer for having the
“courage” to stand up to the “racist Jim Crow filibuster tactics.”
This is hilarious.
“I’m grateful for Chuck Schumer today. He helped defeat a racist Jim Crow filibuster in the Senate," Jennings said. "To stand up against the racist Jim Crow filibuster tactics was a moment of pure courage. I just think he should be lauded by anybody in any party for that."
Host Jake Tapper jumped in to explain how Jennings was actually making fun of Democrats for any viewers who might have been confused.
“It’s a deep cut. Let me just explain to people at home,” Tapper said. “When there was a Democratic push against the filibuster, people in the Democratic Party were saying it was a racist-era Jim Crow-era tactic, the filibuster."
"So [Jennings is] being cheeky," Tapper added.
Jennings was - and rightfully so.
