When Joe Biden was told by Democratic party leaders to step aside and let Kamala Harris be the presidential nominee, there were reports that he might not have been happy with that.
Now, as Election Day grows near, there are reports that there are some problems between the president and the vice president.
Fox News reported Monday, "A rift is reportedly growing between President Biden and the presidential campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris."
"Fox News’ Jacqui Heinrich told Outnumbered that Biden wants to get on the campaign trail to help Harris but has repeatedly been told: 'We’ll get back to you,'" Fox News noted. "Per reporting from Axios, Biden believes the Harris campaign is underestimating his appeal among working class voters, especially in the rust belt," Heinrich said.
And it's not just conservative-friendly Fox News reporting this - so is the left-leaning New York Times.
And according to them, this is personal for Biden.
The Times reported Monday, "One close ally of Mr. Biden’s, who insisted on anonymity to preserve relationships, said the president understood that the campaign wanted 'Beyoncé, not Biden.' Another ally of Mr. Biden’s said it was simply more complicated to schedule events for a sitting president than for other surrogates."
The report also indicated that Biden thinks he could have beaten Trump.
"Mr. Biden still believes that he could have beaten former President Donald J. Trump, Ms. Harris’s Republican rival, but is not saying it as often in his private conversations, according to the two allies," the Times reported.
It continued, "When he is briefed on polling numbers, the president expresses a mix of frustration, disbelief and anger that the race is so close. He believes, as he did in 2022, that Democrats will have a better-than-expected showing on Election Day, but the polls reflecting a dead-heat race are part of the reason he wants to hit the trail to help Ms. Harris."
How important for Biden is it for Harris to win?
"Mr. Biden also understands that the surest way his legacy thrives is if Ms. Harris wins," the report said.
"If she loses to Mr. Trump, one friend said, 'it will kill him.'”
So the current Democratic presidential nominee's campaign is not exactly a well-oiled machine right now, as Joe Biden reportedly shows signs of worry and resentment over what might happen with Harris next Tuesday.
He's not the only Democrat who should be worried. Kamala Harris has been a uniquely awful candidate on many levels.
We will find out how awful Americans think she has been come November 5th.
