There were many factors that gave Donald Trump such a landslide victory over Kamala Harris a week ago.
There was the economy. The border. Inflation. Foreign wars.
And also, kids. Especially protecting them.
Catholic Vote reports, "According to exit polling from NBC News, parents of minor children backed President-elect Donald Trump over failed Democratic nominee Kamala Harris by a nine-point margin – a shift of 15 points from the 2020 election."
That's huge.
"In the 2024 race, Trump won voters who have children under the age of 18 living at home with them – 27% of the electorate – with 53% of the vote compared to 44% for Harris," the report noted. "Harris won all the remaining voters by two points, 50% to 48%, meaning that parents with minor children were a crucial demographic to Trump’s decisive victory."
This was a major shift from 2020 when the parents with minor children supported the Biden-Harris ticket by six points.
According to 2020 exit polling, 52% of parents with children under 18 at home supported the Democratic presidential ticket, while only 46% went for Trump.
So why the shift?
Do you really have to ask?
As Catholic Vote put it, "In the years between the 2020 and the 2024 elections, parental rights emerged as a prominent issue driving many parents, some of whom had previously supported Democratic candidates, to the right. This rightward movement of millions of American parents was a reaction to prolonged post-COVID school closures and the embrace of the LGBTQ movement in school curricula and libraries."
Too many Democrats have come to embrace that young children should be indoctrinated with radical leftwing ideology, including learning about matters related to sex and gender than children simply should not be subjected to.
But if you have one party, the Democrats, saying this is okay and even desirable...
And you have one party, the Republicans, saying this is absolutely unacceptable and we're going to protect kids...
And you HAVE kids...
Which way did anyone expect parents to vote? Sane parents, anyway.
The 2024 election was a long time coming reckoning for the Democrats for a variety of reasons.
This is just one of them.
