Only the American Flag Will Be Flown at Government Buildings

Have you ever noticed government buildings flying LGBT pride flags, or maybe Black Lives Matter flags alongside the American flag, on government buildings.

That may well be a thing of the past.

President Donald Trump's new Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Tuesday that only the American flag will be flown at his department and that goes for for other federal buildings as well, at home and around the world.

Rubio issued an order that read, “Starting immediately, only the United States of America flag is authorized to be flown or displayed at U.S. facilities, both domestic and abroad, and featured in U.S. government content."

“The flag of the United States of America united all Americans under the universal principles of justice, liberty, and democracy," it continued. "These values, which are the bedrock of our great country, are shared by all American citizens, past and present.”

Rubio said it was time to show a better respect to the Stars and Stripes.

“The U.S. flag is a powerful symbol of pride and it is fitting and respectful that only the U.S. flag be flown or displayed at U.S. facilities, both domestically and abroad,”the order said.

But there are some exceptions. The State Department can still feature the Prisoner of War/Missing in Action flag, as well as the Wrongful Detainees flag.

Under this new Trump administration policy, State Department employees who violate the rules will “face disciplinary action, including termination of employment or contract, or reassignment to their home agency," the order stated.

Newly-elected Donald Trump has done more in the last two days than we could possibly keep up with.

This is a great move by him for the country that, frankly, was long overdue.

A President Kamala Harris would have never done this.

This shouldn't be controversial.

Of course America is a big country with more diversity than we can comprehend.

But what we have in common is we are Americans.

Imagine if every individual group was allowed to fly flags that represented them uniquely at government buildings? You would quickly have countless flags. Too many.

These are taxpayer funded buildings where government business is supposed to take place. Not a kindergarten class where children post their finger paintings on the wall.

This was a good way for the new Secretary of State to set the tone.

And even better way to show what kind of other positive developments could be in store under the new administration.
