New York Post: 'Zero' Senate Republicans Oppose Pete Hegseth as Defense Secretary

After the New York Times published a private email between President-elect's choice to head the Defense Department, Pete Hegseth, and his mother in 2018, the establishment media worked overtime to publish negative stories about him throughout the day on Wednesday.

The powers that be appear to really not want Hegseth in such a major defense role.

But it doesn't seem to have worked so far. The New York Post is reporting that not a single Republican senator - 'zero' - is saying that they will oppose his nomination.

According to the report, “'Zero' Senate Republicans are opposing Pete Hegseth’s confirmation, sources told the Post on Wednesday, as the defense secretary-designee was making the rounds on Capitol Hill and defiantly proclaiming he will 'never back down' in the face of widespread allegations of past misconduct."

NBC News reported on Tuesday that at least six Republicans were saying behind the scenes that they had reservations about Hegseth, who is portrayed as a binge drinker, sexually improper, and financially mismanaged a veterans group.

But this all came from "anonymous sources."

A Senate Republican aide told the New York Post, “For every anonymous ‘source’ making an unfounded claim about Hegseth, there are twice as many colleagues and former colleagues who are putting their names publicly on record to refute the defamatory, meritless slander."

“The swamp is just scared of the DOD shakeup that’s coming,” the aide added. “Hegseth should have a hearing, like any other nominee, where he can answer any outstanding questions.”

Absolutely. And for the record, Trump is not backing down one bit.

“I had a call with the president-elect this morning," Hegseth, a former Fox News personality, said, ‘Keep going, keep fighting,'” Hegseth said Trump said to him.

This was confirmed by the Post by a Trump spokeswoman.

“Why would I back down? I’ve always been a fighter. I’m here for the fighters," he added.

"This is personal and passionate," Hegseth insisted.

"I'm doing this for the warfighters, not the warmongers," Hegseth would add in a post on X.

“The Left is afraid of disrupters and change agents," Hegseth declared. "They are afraid of [Trump] — and me. So they smear with fake, anonymous sources and BS stories. They don’t want truth.”

“Our warriors never back down, and neither will I,” he added.

When the political establishment is coming out this hard against you - nameless and faceless "sources" trying to wreck your reputation - one gets the sense that Pete Hegseth is a threat to the old guard.

He says he will be a defense secretary for the "warfighters" - our military - and not the "warmongers."

This is exactly the kind of man all Americans should want in this role.

Donald Trump picked him for a reason.
