As he enters his last month in office, President Joe Biden is going out with an unusually low approval rating.
According to a national Marquette Law School poll released last Wednesday, Biden's approval is at an all time low, while President-elect Donald Trump's approval rating is the highest it has been since Marquette started doing polls.
In fact, they are almost twenty points apart.
The survey was conducted from December 2 through11, where Biden's approval rating fell from 38 percent in October to 34 percent this month.
Biden's disapproval rating? It went from 62 percent to 66 percent in the same period.
Trump's approval rating for this month? 53 percent. His disapproval is 47 percent.
Marquette found that Biden's "unconditional" blanket pardon of his son Hunter Biden was not popular.
The survey asked, "How much do you approve or disapprove of President Joe Biden's decision to pardon his son, Hunter Biden, who was convicted of federal charges for illegally buying a gun and who pleaded guilty to tax evasion?"
71 percent disapproved.
53 percent of Democrats supported the pardon, while 77 percent of independents and 92 percent of Republicans were against it.
Good job, Joe. As if voters couldn't be any more down on you, somehow you found a way.
To say it's been a bad year for Democrats would be an understatement. After four years of Biden and a disastrous presidential campaign from Kamala Harris, the president tops off his White House time by pardoning his convicted felon son.
That's obviously going to rub people the wrong way.
Couple that with the lawfare this administration constantly waged against Trump, and it's not surprising voters now look more kindly on Biden's primary political opponent than they do him.
On January 20, it will be a whole new world in what the incoming Trump administration might be able to achieve.
Sadly, it won't take much to look better than the current White House occupant.
But that's no one's fault but their own.
The Democrats did it to themselves. Including Kamala Harris.
And especially Joe Biden.
