"Diversity, equity and inclusion."
This is now the mantra for Democrats and the Left, where these are the reasons people are hired and money is doled out, far beyond more considerable things like merit or talent.
Now, an investigation has found that President Joe Biden's Department of Education spent over $1 billion on grants for schools from 2021 to 2024 for DEI hires, programs and “mental health/social emotional learning.”
We're not making this up. $1 billion was wasted on this nonsense.
Rhyen Staley, whose Parents Defending Eduction organization conducted the study, said on Thursday, “You reap what you sow, and it is very clear that this administration’s Department of Education has been incentivizing the advancement of far-left ideologies into American schools in place of rigorous, proven methods of instruction."
Of course the report immediately caught the interest of the two men President-elect Trump has tapped to rein in government waste: Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.
Both men are set to head a newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the second Trump administration.
Commenting on the report, Ramaswamy said, “Merit is a precondition for efficiency. So it’s entirely unsurprising that anti-meritocratic programs are a source of waste & inefficiency.”
Musk called the spending,"Insane."
Musk has said he wants to cut around $2 trillion from the federal budget.
This "insane" DEI spending might be a good place to start.
The DOGE X account highlighted the report to its 2.3 million followers, “The Department of Education spent over $1 Billion promoting DEI in America’s schools.
The PDE broke down that 229 DEI-related grants were awarded to schools in 42 states and the District of Columbia.
$489 million was reportedly for DEI recruiting, training and hiring. $343 million was used for “restorative practices” and “youth activism.” $169 million went to "mental health and social/emotional learning."
The PDE report stated, “Some grants covered two or all of the above categories; in those cases, the grant was counted only towards the most dominant category."
Sen. Ted Cruz posted on X, “President Trump will end this woke BS on day one of his term."
"America’s kids will learn the subjects they’re supposed to be taught, rather than being indoctrinated," Cruz added.
Absolutely. This insanity needs to stop and a billion of our taxpayer dollars being spent on DEI is a great place for Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to get started.
