Could Vivek Ramaswamy be Appointed to JD Vance's Senate Seat?

On Monday, Donald Trump revealed that Senator JD Vance of Ohio would be his vice presidential running mate.

Which means if he wins, Ohio will have an open senate seat to which its governor can appoint a new member.

Trump ally and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is an Ohio resident.

That was enough to get Sen. Mike Lee excited:

Ramaswamy was asked about this possibility after Vance's selection was announced.

And he's open to the idea.

"If I was asked to serve, I would consider it. Absolutely," he told Fox News at the Republican National Convention.

Billionaire X owner Elon Musk agreed with Sen. Lee:

Ramaswamy continued, "I have rock-solid conviction that JD will be an outstanding VP for President Trump. The only negative is this leaves our side missing one of our best fighters in the Senate. If asked to serve, I would strongly consider the position and would discuss with President Trump which path makes the most sense for our country."

While a former competitor of Trump's, Ramaswamy has quickly become a high profile ally of the the former president and an effective representative of the 'America First' brand.

Many consider Ramaswamy's speech given on Tuesday night one of the best of the entire Republican National Convention so far.

The decision would ultimately be up to Ohio's Republican governor, Mike DeWine.

When asked if he had spoken with the governor about this possibility, Ramaswamy replied,

"I have not yet," and added that Vance's absence will leave "very big shoes to fill and it’s important that the right person actually take that mantle on."

Big shoes to fill indeed. But in today's Republican Party under Donald Trump, Vivek Ramaswamy might just be one of the best choices for that open seat or any other.
