As the 2024 presidential election winds down, Democrats have resorted to their most desperate but well-worn tactic: Calling Donald Trump "Hitler."
Despite the fact that this is completely absurd, and despite the fact that it is an insult to that Nazi dictator's millions of victims, Democrats have no shame and do not hesitate to do this.
But it didn't begin with Trump.
This is something Republican strategist Scott Jennings pointed out on Wednesday night, saying that he’s “heard” Democrats comparing prominent Republicans to Hitler going all the way back to George W. Bush.
In a press conference on Wednesday, Vice President Kamala Harris cited recent article in The Atlantic that claimed Trump said he wanted generals like those who served under Hitler.
In a CNN panel discussion, Jennings told former Harris aide Jamal Simmons that he was “calloused” to comparing Republicans to Hitler.
“Now, I’m calloused on this Hitler business because I lived through the Bush years and I used to peer out my window onto Pennsylvania Avenue and I saw everybody marching around in their brown uniforms, signs up, ‘Bush is Hitler, Bush is Hitler,’” Jennings said. “And then they did it to John McCain. They did it to Mitt Romney. They’ve done it to Donald Trump. Even did it to Paul Ryan, I recall at one point. So I’ve heard it all before.”
Jennings noted, and it needed to be said, that Democrat senators who are vulnerable right now are touting their ability to work with Trump.
But who would want to work with Hitler?
“It probably will shock Kamala Harris and the rest of her campaign staff to learn that there are incumbent Democrat U.S. senators in this country right now running television ads touting all their work with this modern-day Hitler,” Jennings said.
He added, “I mean, if he were really Hitler, if he were really a threat to democracy, not a single Democrat in this country would be running ads touting their work with Donald Trump.”
At one point, Simmons claimed Jennings was trying to dodge the point about Trump.
Then Jennings cut him off. “She literally spoke in front of the Naval Observatory today, ‘Trump is Hitler,'" Jennings said of Harris.
This election is really close according to the polls.
Is half of the country really in favor of electing Adolf Hitler as president of the United States?
Kamala Harris and her party are hoping voters are dumb enough to think so.
