For some leftwing pundits, they begin their sentences knowing they hate Donald Trump, and then will say just about anything to defend that position.
It doesn't matter how dumb or not factual it is.
Such was the case on CNN recently when conservative commentator Scott Jennings had to explain American civics 101 to Substack author, Touré.
Out of nowhere and without being able to cite any evidence, Touré insisted that Trump will appoint someone to head the military and “contravene” the U.S. Constitution.
Touré then said that Trump “taking control of the military” is what dictators do.
Jennings set Touré straight quickly.
“How is Trump shredding the Constitution?” Jennings asked.
“I mean, seriously? Do we have to give you a civics lesson?” Touré shot back. (Really? As Jennings proceeded to give Touré a civics lesson). He went on, “That we have put all power in the executive branch, the legislative branch, the FBI. Now we’re in control of the military, silencing media. This is what you do in a dictatorship.”
Wow.
That's when Jennings hit Touré with some of the most basic knowledge of American government.
“Are you suggesting that the president is not the commander-in-chief of the military?” Jennings asked Touré.
Touré continued to insist Trump would assume dictatorial powers by appointing someone to head the military.
Jennings pressed on as another panelist tried to interject, “I’m sorry. I’m interested in this conversation. He’s going to put someone in charge who will contravene the Constitution, like who? What do you mean by that?"
"The president is in charge of the military, is he not?" Jennings added. "You said he’s going to put someone in charge of the military? This is an important conversation.”
Touré did not directly respond and had no argument.
It's a hell of a watch.
And people definitely gave Touré hell:
Maybe before talking about "shredding the Constitution" he should read it.
Definitely a wild exchange.
How does an adult American not know that the president is the Commander-in-Chief?!?
An adult teaching a child.
Scott Jennings job is literally to correct idiots.
What else does Touré not know? Where the president lives? The name of the nation's highest court? Who George Washington is?
Thankfully for him in this exchange, Touré had Scott Jennings there to hold his hand and guide the way.
Maybe they shouldn't book someone so clueless on CNN anymore?
Never mind. That's a stretch.
These morons not only vote, they are employed by our government!
