On CNN Monday, one of the dumbest things ever happened on the cable channel.
And that's really saying something. This is CNN we're talking about.
When Donald Trump spokesperson Karoline Leavitt brought up the fact that CNN's Jake Tapper had compared her boss to Adolf Hitler in the past, host Kasie Hunt shut down the entire interview.
For real. Jake Tapper will be a moderator at the first debate between Trump and Joe Biden on Thursday hosted by CNN.
After Hunt showed a video clip of Trump calling Biden a "worthy debater," the CNN host asked Leavitt what she expects.
“Well, first of all, it takes someone five minutes to google ‘Jake Tapper, Donald Trump’ to see that Jake Tapper has... ” Leavitt said until she was interrupted by Hunt.
“Ma’am, we’re gonna stop this interview if you’re gonna keep attacking my colleagues,” Hunt shot back.
Leavitt finished “...consistently likened President Trump to Adolf Hitler."
Hunt repeated her warning, “Ma’am, I’m gonna stop this interview if you continue to attack my colleagues. I would like to talk about Joe Biden and Donald Trump, who you work for. And if you speak on his behalf, I’m willing to have this conversation.”
“I am stating facts that your colleagues have stated in the past. Now as for this debate... ” Leavitt declared.
That's when Hunt abruptly ended the interview.
Leavitt had a point. How was CNN going to treat Trump considering the alleged news channel compared Trump to the Nazi dictator.
Which did happen:
CNN is the same channel that fueled the Russiagate conspiracy, called Trump a Nazi basically and a million other things that showed their inherent bias against the former president.
Why wouldn't Leavitt bring that up? How could she not?
The reactions from conservatives were fast and furious.
Kelley Paul, the wife of Sen. Rand Paul, also made an important point.
But Mrs. Paul wouldn't be able to make this criticism on CNN. Their hosts are completely off limits.
At least according to Kasie Hunt.
CNN exists as a channel to bash and lie about Donald Trump and conservatives in general every day.
Now they're embarrassed to get called out on it.
They should be.
