Kid Rock recently invited Bill Maher to meet with Donald Trump.
Many of Maher's fans were absolutely appalled that he would meet with Trump.
Regardless, Maher did have dinner with Trump, and also Kid Rock and UFC President Dana White in late March.
On Friday night, he talked about it.
The HBO host said that his dinner with the President reminded him why Democrats are so unpopular right now.
Maher said on the opening monologue of his HBO show "Real Time" on Friday, "Honestly, I voted for Clinton and Obama, but I would never feel comfortable talking to them the way I was able to talk with Donald Trump."
"That’s just how it went down, make of it what you will," he said. "Me, I feel it’s emblematic of why the Democrats are so unpopular these days.”
Maher then listed some of the issues on which he disagreed with Democrats, including trans ideology and wokeness.
Then he got to his favorite part of his dinner with Trump.
“So MAGA fans, don’t worry, your boy gave me nothing, just hats," Maher said. "Hats and a very generous amount of time and a willingness to listen and accept me as a possible friend even though I’m not MAGA, which was the point of the dinner."
Maher scolded any critics who were angry with him for meeting with the President.
Trump said, according to Maher, "You know, I’ve heard from a lot of people who really like that we’re having this dinner. Not all, but a lot.’
Maher replied, "Same. A lot of people told me they loved it, but not all. And we agreed, the people who don’t even want us to talk, we don’t like you.”
He continued, taking a shot at Cory Booker's recent so-called "filibuster" against Trump, “Don’t talk? As opposed to what, writing the same editorial for the millionth time and making 25-hour speeches into the wind?"
"Really, that’s what liberals have?," Maher said. "He takes the piss out of everybody else and we can hold ours?”
Maher was defiant and unapologetic, “Okay, that’s my report. You can hate me for it, but I’m not a liar. Trump was gracious and measured and why he isn’t that in other settings, I don’t know and I can’t answer. And it’s not my place to answer, I’m just telling you what I saw."
For the many disagreements conservatives might have with Maher, good on him for at least talking with Trump.
Let libs be mad about it.
Maher said he was more comfortable with Trump than he would have been around Bill Clinton on Barack Obama.
It's not exactly a mystery that Trump has many good qualities.
For all his haters, Maher likely also gained some new respect for meeting with Trump.
When leftist shill Keith Olbermann is mad, you know you've done the right thing.
Maher's comments after meeting with the President are an indictment of the establishment/legacy media and how they cover Donald Trump, more than anything else.
President Trump is only three months into his second term, and the Left and its media accomplices don't have anything good to say about him. Just the same old tired and dishonest smears they had from his first term. It's stale and boring.
Bill Maher is not a fan or even friend to Trump. But he is an American, and Donald Trump is his country's president.
Good for him for at least reaching out. Trying to listen. Considering the points of the "other side."
Good for Bill Maher for ignoring so much of the nastiness from the Left, and at least trying to do something better for his country.
And for acknowledging why Democrats really are so unpopular right now.
Because so many of them absolutely refuse to do what he just did.
