Biden Should Listen to Obama: We Can't Allow 'People to Pour Into the US Undetected, Undocumented, Unchecked'

Barack Obama, an Illinois senator at the time, said in a 2005 speech, “We are a generous and welcoming people here in the US, but those who enter the country illegally, and those who employ them, disrespect the rule of law and they are showing disregard for those who are following the law."

Obama added, “We simply cannot allow people to pour into the US undetected, undocumented, unchecked and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, diligently and lawfully to become immigrants in this country."

Later he obviously became President Obama and his Vice President was Joe Biden, a man who obviously has no use for these basic facts about a healthy immigration system and border security.

President Donald Trump shared a clip of Obama's 2005 immigration remarks in 2018.

“I agree with President Obama 100%” Trump wrote on social media.

You can find a longer version of Obama speech on C-Span where he says he supports the "Secure America and Orderly Immigrant Act," which was proposed almost two decades ago by Senators John McCain and Ted Kennedy.

That legislation was never voted on, but in promoting it, Obama declared that "securing the border alone" would not be enough.

It's been a long time since Democrats talked this.

Regardless, Joe Biden desperately needs to listen to his old boss's border philosophy from way back then.
