Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said on Wednesday that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) “does not have the funds” to help Americans in need right now due to Hurricane Helene.
This announcement comes after the DHS allocated $640.9 million this year through FEMA to help state and local governments deal with the major influx of asylum seekers.
You can't make this up.
While traveling to South and North Carolina on Air Force One, Mayorkas told reporters, “We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have."
“We are expecting another hurricane hitting,” he added. “We do not have the funds. FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season and what — what is imminent.”
Well that's rich.
According to Donald Trump Jr., it's even worse than what Mayorkas admits.
“So FEMA is almost out of money to help with Federal Emergencies (you know the FE in FEMA) because they spent almost $1,000,000,000 helping illegal immigrants over the last two years,” Don Jr. wrote on X. “Got it, but probably tough to explain to those not getting the help they need in GA and NC!”
So, let's get this straight. Under the Biden-Harris administration, the U.S. has sent billions to Ukraine. Has spent millions on illegal aliens and non-citizens that have broke into the country.
But when a natural disaster affects countless Americans, we don't have the funds to help them?
Texas Governor Greg Abbott had a solution.
“This is easy. Mayorkas and FEMA — immediately stop spending money on illegal immigration resettlement and redirect those funds to areas hit by the hurricane. Put Americans first,” Abbott tweeted.
But are Helene victims getting some help? ANYTHING?
According to the New York Post, "A relatively paltry $4 million has been paid directly to families and individuals in the week since Hurricane Helene ravaged the Southeast, killing at least 202 people and causing severe flooding damage from Florida to North Carolina, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Thursday."
According to FEMA on Thursday, $20 million was going to storm victims.
So, between $4 million and $20 million to Americans in need and $640 million to non-Americans.
Got it.
Republican Congressman Tim Burchett tweeted, “FEMA spending over a billion dollars on illegals while they leave Americans stranded and without help is treasonous. U.S. citizens are dying. Pray for our country folks."
This is an embarrassment for a country with as much money and as many resources as the United States has, and is indicative of serious mismanagement of government going all the way to the top.
One half of the current administration wants voters to elect her as president next month.
Despite Kamala Harris being part of one of the worst presidencies in American history.
We can keep doling what we're doing, leaving Helene victims - our fellow countrymen - out to dry.
Or we could start putting America first, again.
Especially after a tragedy like this.
Fight! Fight! Fight!
